We have entered a new world---the hockey tournament. So we just finished our house league season which is not terribly competitive. This week we play 4 days, with 2 -21 minute cross ice 4 on 4 games, 1.5 minute buzzer style hockey. One year ago that was a foreign language. Tonight I found myself cheering my two older boys on...admittedly Luke at 5 appeared to have more fun practicing his one foot skating while waiting to hit the ice...Aleks at 7 who would rip my head off with a slap shot in the driveway was mild as could be on the ice...he is the bigger puzzle. I know he loves it, he tells me often enough I just cannot figure out why my driveway player does not show up on the ice---it not the skating as he has been skating for 3 years?
So we have 3 more days of "mite madness" before we take a much needed break for the summer. Well not quite, they have both decided to go to hockey school for the summer---3 days/week 1.5 hours a session for 6 weeks, with one of the best/toughest coaches in the state...We have not yet had intensity so this will be interesting.
I must remember my camera tomorrow, as they have "real" jerseys for the tournament, photos to follow...
