the best part of today

One major meltdown at church was not the best start I could have hoped for, but the day definitely got better. We went to see Santa, Aleks asked for money when he couldn’t remember what he wanted. Luke asked for a dollhouse and Eli reached right out for the big guy…no tears. We lost “Dancer” on the way from Santa’s lap to the mall exit (Luke is holding her in the picture. Gotta find another so Santa can maybe return her with a note about taking care of his things…(purchased at CVS if any of you happen to see one let me know!) Yes, we did retrace our steps….grrrr. Then it was off to hockey. The boys had their first game! They are on the Woonsocket North Stars (blue team). Aleks scored a goal and Luke declared his intention to become a goalie. They were so stinkin cute and got to skate on the same line about half the time. This team level plays 3 on 3 cross ice and I think they actually got the hang of changing lines---passing not so much! Then we came home and decorated the tree. Luke declared this the best part of the day.

Did I mention that when Santa asked the boys about what kind of cookies they would be making him, I suggested they ask Santa what he likes (stupid stupid stupid---me) Anyhow Santa says gingerbread. So Aleks’ anxiety over when we were getting a tree was immediately replaced by when we would be making gingerbread cookies. My boy, ever the planner told me we did not have to make them Christmas eve, cool, that we could make them tomorrow and then we could keep them in a container…

Anybody have a gingerbread cookie recipe?
